Games

Laura Anderson makes games that centre on non-violent, accessible, inclusive and safe spaces for players. Her games have been downloaded by over 70 million players to date, and have won multiple awards.

She does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to game narratives. Instead, she enjoys working with game designers to craft compelling stories and ways to play. While best results from narrative always come from having a narrative designer/writer embedded at the start of a project, Laura is also skilled at editing existing narratives to make them more engaging and to increase player retention.

Laura has specialised in games since 2o18, and brings a player-first methodology to her work. As a screenwriter with over 15 years experience in film and tv, she is an expert at creative fun dialogue, rich characters, and scenes that people want to read.

On Love & Pies, Laura created a story world which celebrated diversity, championed queer romantic storylines, and investigated a mystery in a safe space (no guns, police, or direct violence).

With Beyond These Stars, Laura is writing a game narrative that promotes environmentalism and community.

Her work on Merge Mansion centred a story on two richly detailed, independent and complex female characters.

Many more projects Laura has worked on sit under a non disclosure agreement and can’t be talked about in specifics, but they have included more shipped games than those outlined above, and work has covered:
– story and narrative design consultancy
– rewrites and pivots of existing stories and characters to optimise engagement
– narrative concepts for testing purposes
– narrative creation – storylines, worldbuilding, narrative design, characters and dialogue

“Love & Pies characters are deep, rich, truly funny, and represent people from many different walks of life, a lot of them minorities in some way. Most importantly, this is all done without it feeling forced, making it a true benchmark in casual F2P narrative.”from Naavik
